Set up SplitKeyboard on your iPad

Start with the free preview, then follow these steps when you’re ready to type in other apps.

Add the keyboard

  1. Open SplitKeyboard and try the free preview.
  2. Unlock lifetime access to type in other apps.
  3. Go to Settings, General, Keyboard, Keyboards, Add New Keyboard. Choose SplitKeyboard.
  4. Open Notes. Hold the globe or emoji key and choose SplitKeyboard.

Choose your language and letter layout

  1. Add your languages. Open the SplitKeyboard app, then Languages under Keys and languages. Select the languages you type in.
  2. Switch while typing. Hold the keyboard’s settings key and choose a language. You need at least two languages selected to see the switcher. The globe key moves between keyboards, such as Apple’s and SplitKeyboard.
  3. Choose an English letter layout. Open Key arrangement in the SplitKeyboard app for QWERTY, ABC, Dvorak or Colemak. Language selection and letter arrangement are separate controls.

Already paid? Choose Restore Purchases in the app using the same Apple Account. Full Access is not needed. Check compatibility and features.
